Educational demos - $200
What to expect
Participants will be introduced to a wide variety of materials, ranging from historic minerals to modern synthetics. We will cover the fundamentals of pigment behavior, synthetic and natural binders, extenders, modifiers, technical approaches and more. Participation is encouraged, so students can ask questions while learning to mull paint in real time. We will cover safe disposal practices and basic toxicity classifications according to Arts and Creative Materials Institute (ACMI) standards. Students will be introduced to product Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and learn how to safely handle raw materials. The goal is to empower participants to be safer, more aware, and more deliberate with their material choices as they continue to expand their artistic practices.
